Dania Jai-Alai Facts and Info

Dania Jai-alai opened its doors in 1953.  It was the second fronton to open in the United States.  The current 220,000 square foot facility has comfortable seating for thousands and contains a sports bar, simulcast (OTB) betting facility, cardroom with Texas Hold'em poker, cocktail bars and snack bars with acres of well-lighted parking.  The upstairs cafeteria area is being converted to a temporary home for 1,500 vegas style slot machines that are being added.  Dania Jai-alai changed ownership in March of 2007.  It is now owned by Boyd Gaming Corporation who plans to completely remodel the facility by the end of 2008.  The new casino facility will include 1,500 slot machines, about 40 poker tables.  The new jai-alai fronton will include seating for 1,000. The property will also include two upscale restaurants, a deli, a nightclub, bars and a four-story parking garage. The casino and fronton complex will be built behind the existing building.  The existing facility will be demolished after the new facilities are completed.  It will be business as usual for Dania Jai-alai as the construction is under way.
